Long time and not much new, but things look promising.

Well, only a couple things to report, the adapter and spacer plates are complete, the clutch assembly is working (Mostly, still have a minor issue somewhere which is causing the flywheel to grind on a few bolt heads). I have taken it upon myself to build my own controller from scratch and I have had a bit of success with that, the logic board is complete and the next part is designing the main MOSFET and heat-sink system, that should be interesting.

MOSFETs for driving the motor, each one is rated for 1.5 KW.
Logic board for the controller, it's rather shoddy looking but it works surprisingly well.
And of course the motor and transmission assembly, the motor is a bit on the heavy side.

Update

Not too much to report, but the vehicle is coming together, slowly.

I have bought a tower for he wind turbine for recharging the car, and am hoping to be able to test the fit of the motor tomorrow, heat permitting. (It has been an EXTREMELY hot summer.)

Update July 2

Well, today was somewhat eventful. The exhaust system has been removed, and the cars electronics still work without the engine harness attached.

New pics, new parts!

Here is the quick overview of what's going on with the project, well, more an overview of the components. All I can say is, if you are going to do an EV conversion, be prepared to spend a couple grand in the process.
The "new" electric motor, from an old Baker forklift, rebuilt and was sold on Ebay, I picked it up for around $400 plus shipping. Shipping was rather expensive, due to it being a 210 pound hunk of cast iron and copper.

The engine bay of the Geo, it's a rather small space to work with, but I think it's manageable. I picked up the Geo locally for around $500, still in running condition, but when driving it home the hood decided to unlatch and fly into the windshield, leaving the glass cracked and the hood ruined.

The old gas engine, hoping to sell it on Ebay, any money is better than nothing, there's a chance of getting a couple hundred dollars for it.
The new motor to transmission spline coupler, it cost $150 to get it machined so I really hope it doesn't snap under the load.
More to come!

First Post

No pictures right this moment, but there will be soon.

Current Progress: Motor is out of the Geo, car has been named, I have gotten the new motor, the adapter plate and coupler are being made, and I have about half the expenses covered.

Next: putting the motor in the metro, hopefully that will go smoothly.
